but it's $150/day so I basically just got an extra thousand bucks to play with which is always nice (and this'll look good when applying for church gigs)

So I got a job singing at a church nearby (Timothy Eaton Memorial) - getting paid a surprisingly cushy amount to be section lead in their choir and their baritenor soloist. Kiiiind of ridiculously pleased. It's on a provisionary basis starting in September, but at the same time? They've had this position open for months and have had three auditions ( Read more... )

Okay, so I haven't done a life dump in WAY TOO LONG and I am never sure how much of my life gets on Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr and how much of that any of you read and care about. So I'll do my best to go over what's happened in the past... what, month and a half or so? I don't think I've really posted much since getting back from Cameroon.

I went back to my high school today, and oh my god I miss music. I miss singing in a choir, I miss properly warming up, I miss having to frantically sightsing the tenor part and cursing the composer because FUCK YOU HAVE YOU EVER TRIED TO SING THIS WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO THE TENORS and then being able to do it and just relishing those amazing ( Read more... )

Argh, I'm going to be meeting Matthew's Mom via Skype in the next couple weeks (because he lives at home and may or may not only be 17, which yes is legal in both our jurisdictions), so that she can approve of me and then approve of him coming up here for ~ a week in July. Sleeping forever!

Today was a lot better than expected - lots of laughter, very very few tears. Grandma's turned Grandpa's prosthetic leg into a flowerpot already. The drive up was a blizzard for the first hour or so, but Vic is a really good driver, so despite being terrified I'm glad it was her behind the wheel, ugh. Stupid snow.
